Friday evening I was happy to attend the opening of a brand new community art gallery in Hegwisch, ARTery Southeast, featuring the first solo show of painter Yulisa Baeza.
The storefront space on Baltimore Avenue, created by Gina Ramirez and Julio Ibarra, plans to host monthly shows featuring artists of the city's southeast side. To quote from Gina's recent tweet, the couple intends for ARTery to be "a warm and welcoming space for local talent."
My personal favorite of Yulisa's work was her expressive blue acrylic, "Dissociation", from 2022
