Jayland Walker Protest - Chicago - July 6th, 2022
Over and over, at a rally on Wednesday evening, one question was asked: "Why is it that a young white man, who allegedly killed seven people at a July 4th parade in Highland Park, and injured many more, gets arrested without a scratch, while a young Black man, Jayland Walker in Akron Ohio, who killed no one, and was running away unarmed from the police, gets 60 bullets?"
Eric Russell (blue suit and fedora) from Tree of Life Justice League, stated the issue forcefully, "There are soldiers killed in war who don't get 60 bullets! There is no 'respectful engagement' of Black people. When it comes to those of us who have been kissed by the sun, they engage us with deadly force! They murder us in broad daylight!”
Following the speeches and demonstration in Federal Plaza, scores of protestors took to Chicago's streets for an angry and passionate march, chanting "justice for Jayland Walker!", and demanding an end to police domination of Black and Brown communities.
